Thar Desert Green - Environment Project
Thar Desert Green - Environment Project
Overview
Launched in 2018, the Thar Desert Green Project aims to restore barren desert land through large-scale tree plantation campaigns, including the high-density Thar Desert Forest initiative. Over 175,000 saplings of seven native tree species have been successfully planted across 15 acres, transforming arid land into productive green spaces. By planting indigenous trees and vegetation, the project supports wildlife, improves soil quality, and helps create a healthier environment. In addition, it generates income opportunities for local farmers and enhances community well-being, demonstrating how environmental restoration can benefit both nature and people in Tharparkar.
